This Shelby Mustang GT500 in Magnetic Gray arrived at Nashville ClearBra ready for a full protection upgrade. With its supercharged performance and aggressive design, the GT500 is built to be driven hard—but that kind of use also means it’s vulnerable to rock chips, road debris, and wear from the elements.
The owner came to us looking for complete protection, along with heat rejection and increased privacy. We spent time walking him through the pros and cons of each service, especially helping him understand how his tint choices would affect legality and visibility. He wanted to go bold with 5% on the sides and rear and a 70% windshield film for comfort and glare reduction.
To deliver the best results, we installed full-body XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS Paint Protection Film, topped with XPEL FUSION PLUS Ceramic Coating, and completed the job with XPEL PRIME XR PLUS Window Tint. We also ceramic-coated the wheels, giving this build protection from top to bottom.
Our team worked closely with the owner throughout the install to ensure that the film alignment, finish, and appearance all matched his expectations—and we made sure he knew that if he ever gets pulled over for the dark tint, we’ll remove it for free.

This vehicle received a comprehensive protection package designed to preserve its finish, reduce interior heat, and provide maximum privacy. Our XPEL-certified team selected materials that meet the highest standards in automotive surface protection.
PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF)
We installed XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS Paint Protection Film to the entire vehicle, including the hood, front and rear bumpers, doors, roof, rocker panels, fenders, and mirrors.
This self-healing film provides superior defense against rock chips, scratches, and environmental contaminants—while maintaining the high-gloss look of the factory paint.
All exposed edges were wrapped for a clean, seamless finish.
WINDOW TINT
We installed XPEL PRIME XR PLUS nano-ceramic tint with the following configuration:
5% on the front sides, rear sides, and rear windshield
70% on the front windshield
This film blocks 96% of infrared heat and 99% of UV rays, offering maximum privacy and interior cooling. We explained that 5% is below the legal limit in Tennessee, and informed the customer that we offer free tint removal if needed due to a citation.

How long does it take to install full-body PPF, tint, and ceramic coating together?
When combining a full-body paint protection film, window tint, and ceramic coating, most vehicles—especially performance models like the GT500—require 5 to 7 days for completion. This timeframe allows for thorough vehicle prep, film alignment and curing, tint drying, and ceramic coating application across multiple surfaces including paint and wheels. Larger or more complex body shapes may take longer, and we always walk the customer through the projected schedule before beginning. We also do progress updates throughout the process to keep everything transparent.
Is 5% window tint legal in Tennessee?
No—5% window tint is not legal for front side windows in Tennessee. The legal minimum for the front sides is 35% VLT (Visible Light Transmission). 5% is commonly referred to as “limo tint” and is typically used for rear windows where regulations are more flexible. We made sure to educate this customer about the tint laws before applying the film, and as with all of our installs, we offer free tint removal if you ever receive a citation. This lets you make your choice confidently with full understanding of the risks and options.
Will ceramic coating on wheels really make a difference?
Yes, absolutely. XPEL FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper Coating is formulated to handle high heat and heavy brake dust buildup. Performance vehicles like the GT500 often have large brake systems that generate significant debris, and ceramic coating the wheels creates a slick surface that resists bonding from brake dust, tar, and road grime. This makes your wheels much easier to clean and helps prevent discoloration or corrosion over time. Plus, it enhances gloss or satin finishes depending on your wheel style.
Can I wash the car right away after installation?
It’s best to wait at least 7 days before washing the vehicle after a full install like this. Both PPF and ceramic coatings require time to fully cure and settle. Washing too soon can interfere with bonding, edge adhesion, and coating performance. After that initial wait, we recommend using a pH-balanced car wash soap, avoiding pressure washing near film edges, and drying with soft microfiber towels. We also provide aftercare tips and can suggest products that are safe for both PPF and coatings.
What happens if I get a rock chip even with PPF?
XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS is designed to absorb and deflect most small to moderate impacts—but no material is completely invincible. If a rock is sharp or heavy enough, it might still leave a mark. The good news is, with PPF installed, that impact will usually only damage the film, not the original paint underneath. In those cases, we can often replace just the affected panel of film without redoing the entire section, saving time and cost. It’s one of the main reasons full-body PPF is such a smart long-term investment.
